The Armenian Diplomacy at the I London Conference and the Issue of Boundaries

Summary

Co-chairmen of the delegation of Integral Armenia A.Aharonian and Boghos Nubar, officials J.A.Malcolm, author of many documents and maps General G.Korganian, as well as the Patriarch of Constantinople Zaven Der Yeghiayan and since March 18 - the Bishop of Yerevan Khoren Muradbegian took an active part in negotiations at the 1st London Conference of British, French, Italian Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers, collaborated with Ambassador of Japan on February 12 - April 10, 1920. On February 21, 23 and March 2, the delegation had presented three notes "On Armenian Boundaries;" on Februarty 21, 26 and March 16 its members stood up in the Commission for the delimitatiuon of the boundaries of Armenia.

The main dispute had been stirred up over the fate of Cilicia, Kharberd and Sebastia. The region, which was recognized as a mergeable with the existent Republic of Armenia, embraced the main parts of the provinces of Trebizond, Erzerum, Bitlis and Van, liberated by the Russian Army during the First World War. The victorious Powers warned the Armenian side, they would furnich money and weapons, but they would not provide their Armed Forces to solve any practical tasks. //-69
